SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A 30-year-old man was arrested following a narcotics operation conducted by the East Central Narcotics Task Force and South Windsor Police Department.
Malcolm Mitchell, of East Windsor, was taken into custody at 3:02 p.m. Wednesday after police received information he was conducting a pre-planned narcotics transaction in South Windsor.
Task force members observed the transaction and attempted to arrest Mitchell, who fled the scene on foot.
Mitchell was found in possession of 3.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, which he attempted to further conceal during the arrest process.
He was charged with use of drug paraphernalia, sale of a narcotics substance, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and interfering with an officer.
Mitchell was released on a $15,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on March 11 at 9 a.m.
In separate incidents, South Windsor police arrested two people on drunken driving charges.
Annkera N. Carlander, 50, of Enfield, was arrested at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday after police responded to reports of a vehicle operating erratically in the area of Route 5 and Sullivan Avenue.
Officers located the vehicle near Route 5 and I-291 and observed it fail to maintain its lane.
Carlander was identified as the driver and failed standardized field sobriety tests.
She was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive in proper lane and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.
Eugene R. Trombley, 65, of Vernon, was arrested at 12:17 a.m. Thursday after an officer observed his vehicle make an improper turn on Route 5.
The officer then observed the vehicle fail to maintain its lane on Ellington Road and conducted a traffic stop.
Trombley failed to complete standardized field sobriety tests to standard and was charged with operating under the influence, second offense, and failure to drive in proper lane.
He was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond.
Both Carlander and Trombley are scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on March 16 at 9 a.m.
