LUNENBURG, MA — The Lunenburg Police Department is investigating an alleged swatting call made Monday that falsely reported an act of violence at a residence in town.
Swatting calls are intentionally false reports designed to prompt a large emergency response from law enforcement.
Police said there is no threat and no active danger to the community.
Authorities said they are actively working to identify the source of the call.
The Leominster Police Department, Fitchburg Police Department, Nashoba Valley Regional Emergency Communications Center, Natick Police Department, Lunenburg Fire Rescue and CEMLEC SWAT assisted in the response.
