MANCHESTER, NH — A Manchester woman has been arrested in connection with the death of an infant found in Pine Island Pond last month.

Hepay Juma, 26, of Manchester, was arrested on a charge of reckless second-degree murder, according to a joint announcement by New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella and Manchester Police Chief Peter A. Marr.

The infant, identified as Baby Jane “Grace” Doe, was found deceased in Pine Island Pond on March 27.

Authorities say Juma caused the death of the child, her daughter, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation.
