EAST GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police responded to a domestic violence incident Tuesday that prompted area schools to be placed on secure status as a precaution.
The suspect fled before officers arrived at the scene and was allegedly attempting to obtain a firearm, according to East Greenwich Township police.
Schools in the East Greenwich School District were placed into secure status while police worked to determine the suspect’s location and whether the individual had access to weapons.
Police said there were no ties between the suspect and the schools.
The secure status was lifted after police confirmed the suspect had left the state and was not believed to be armed.
Normal school operations resumed.
