WARWICK, RI — A 71-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while crossing Warwick Avenue on Feb. 25.
Officers from the Warwick Police Department responded to the crash involving a pedestrian in the area of 1222 Warwick Avenue at approximately 8:07 p.m.
The Warwick Police Accident Reconstruction Team determined that a red 2015 Chrysler sedan was traveling southbound on Warwick Avenue when it struck Michael Zarum, of Warwick, as he was crossing the roadway toward the west side of Warwick Avenue.
The pedestrian was not within a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.
Warwick Rescue personnel arrived on scene and transported Zarum to Rhode Island Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition and is being treated for head and leg injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors.
