EAST WALLINGFORD, VT — A Ludlow woman faces a DUI charge after a single-vehicle rollover crash early Thursday morning.

Cailin Mattheiss, 35, of Ludlow, was traveling northbound on Vermont Route 103 near Freeman Brook Road at approximately 12:25 a.m. on Feb. 26, 2026, when she failed to navigate a left-hand curve, according to Vermont State Police.

Her 2013 Hyundai Sonata exited the roadway via the east shoulder and continued into a ditch, where it rolled at least once, police said.

Mattheiss sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

During the investigation, troopers from the Rutland Barracks observed Mattheiss displaying several indicators of impairment, police said.

She was screened for DUI and processed at the hospital.

Mattheiss was released to a sober adult with a citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.

The crash occurred on wet asphalt with small snow accumulation, mostly on the shoulder, under clear weather conditions.

The vehicle was totaled in the crash.
