RUTLAND, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a woman early Wednesday after two young children were found alone at a hotel in a dangerous situation.
Jessica Hedberg, 34, of West Rutland, was taken into custody without incident and charged with two counts of cruelty to a child and two counts of domestic assault.
Police began an investigation at the Cortina Inn at 1:12 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of two young children left alone at the hotel.
The investigation revealed Hedberg had abandoned the two children at the hotel, police said.
The children were able to get out of the room and were found in a dangerous situation, according to police.
Hedberg was later located and arrested.
She was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Rutland Criminal Division on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
Hedberg was also issued court-ordered conditions of release and held at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility on $750 bail.
