Man arrested on child endangerment charge in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A 48-year-old man was arrested following a physical disturbance at an Aldi supermarket Saturday afternoon.

Sean M. Toomey, of Cortlandville, was taken into custody at approximately 4:27 p.m. at the store located at 908 State Route 13.

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location at approximately 4:24 p.m. for a report of a physical disturbance.

Through investigation, authorities determined that Toomey engaged in a physical altercation with a known victim.

Toomey was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

He was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Toomey was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. Saturday and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on March 9 at 11 a.m.
