NORTH HUDSON, NY — New York State Police responded to Interstate 87 for a reported vehicle fire on Feb. 23, 2026, at approximately 11:44 a.m.
An investigation determined that a purple 2024 Cadillac was traveling southbound on Interstate 87 when the vehicle veered off the roadway.
The operator, Joseph A. Kaiser, 48, of Westchester, stated that the vehicle’s lane assist and cruise control were activated when the vehicle exited the roadway.
The vehicle struck a snow embankment and came to rest on a guardrail.
Kaiser and his passenger, a 15-year-old male, were able to exit the vehicle prior to it becoming fully engulfed in flames.
Local fire departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported.
