ARGYLE, NY — A bread delivery truck crashed into a firehouse Monday morning after attempting to pass a town payloader, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.
The Washington County Office of Public Safety received a 911 call at approximately 9:13 a.m. reporting that a delivery truck had crashed into the J.A. Barkley Hose Company firehouse on State Route 40, with wires down in the roadway.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Robb’s delivery truck had just completed a bread delivery at the Argyle School and was traveling north on State Route 40.
A Town of Argyle payloader was attempting to turn right into the Argyle Town Barn when the delivery truck attempted to pass the payloader on the right-hand side, striking the bucket.
The delivery truck then struck a utility pole, shearing it and causing wires to fall into the roadway.
The truck continued across the parking lot and into the front of the J.A. Barkley Firehouse.
The driver, Lee A. Robb Jr., 40, of Gansevoort, and passenger Lee A. Robb, 74, of South Glens Falls, sustained minor injuries and were evaluated by Argyle EMS.
The operator of the payloader, Nathan Henry, 38, of Argyle, reported no injuries.
National Grid responded to the scene to address the downed wires.
Washington County Code Enforcement also responded to ensure the firehouse structure was secure.
No tickets have been issued at this time.
The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
