HOOSICK, NY — A man faces felony drug charges and an animal cruelty investigation after authorities executed a search warrant at a residence on February 18, 2026.
Members of the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office executed the warrant at 5 Depot Road at approximately 6 p.m.
The warrant was executed by the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit, with assistance from Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies.
During the operation, deputies located suspected narcotics that field tested positive for cocaine, along with scales and U.S. currency.
The items were determined to be in the possession of Kevin T. Klebbe, 38, of Hoosick.
While conducting the search of the residence, deputies also discovered a deceased canine locked outside the structure.
The animal appeared to be severely underweight.
At the time of the search, outside temperatures were approximately 25 degrees.
A second canine was located on the property in unsafe conditions.
The living canine was transferred to the custody of the Hoosick Town Animal Control Officer.
The deceased canine was also taken into custody.
The Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office has been notified and has requested an autopsy of the deceased animal.
Additional charges may be lodged pending the outcome of the autopsy.
Klebbe was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony; and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Klebbe was processed at the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
He was then transported to the Hoosick Falls Village Court for arraignment.
He was released on electronic monitoring to appear back in court on March 26, 2026.
