HIGHLAND, NY — A Poughkeepsie man faces felony charges after being stopped for traffic violations on Route 9W.
Kiron Valerio, 38, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested Feb. 21 and charged with felony criminal contempt first degree, felony aggravated family offense, driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation third degree, according to Town of Lloyd Police.
Police said Valerio was found to be in violation of a City of Poughkeepsie Court order of protection.
He was arraigned in Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Parts Court by Judge Ashdown and remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
Valerio is due back in Town of Lloyd Court on March 26, 2026.
In other arrests, William E. Oakley Jr., 25, of Rochester, was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with felony grand larceny fourth degree.
He is accused of stealing $1,500 in gift cards from the Speedway Store in Highland where he was employed.
Oakley was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Town of Lloyd Court on March 5, 2026.
Austin C. Pullman, 34, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested Feb. 14 on an arrest warrant for stalking fourth degree.
He was transported to the Ulster County Jail to await arraignment in Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Parts Court.
Richard A. Laviola, 69, of New Paltz, was arrested Feb. 21 and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation third degree after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his car on Route 9W in Highland.
Laviola was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Town of Lloyd Court on March 12, 2026.
Michael A. Morgan, 43, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested Feb. 23 and charged with driving while intoxicated after the vehicle he was operating was stopped for traffic violations on Route 44/55 in Highland.
