ROCKLAND, ME — A 65-year-old man was arrested after allegedly driving a plow truck with the blade down toward a crowd of approximately 75 people gathered in Chapman Park on Feb. 21, 2026.

Michael Robinson, of Rockland, was taken into custody by Rockland Police after the incident caused snow and ice to strike multiple people, some with enough force to knock them to the ground, according to a police press release.

Robinson was booked into the Knox County Jail on charges of felony reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and driving to endanger.

Additional assault charges are expected to be added at arraignment.

The incident is the latest in a series of criminal acts targeting individuals gathered in the area, police said.

On Jan. 31, 2026, a flag or banner was maliciously stolen, and the case remains under investigation.

On Feb. 14, 2026, one person was charged with assault after an individual was assaulted while arguing with someone of an opposing view.

Weekly gatherings in the area have occurred for over a year with very few incidents, according to police.

The Rockland Police Department said it will not tolerate violence, theft or any criminal behavior intended to intimidate or harm members of the community.

The department said the public will notice an increased police presence during upcoming events to ensure the safety of those exercising their First Amendment rights.
