LISBON, ME — A residence on Ferry Road was destroyed by fire Thursday morning after an electric blanket apparently malfunctioned.
A neighbor called 911 at approximately 10 a.m. to report the home at 104 Ferry Road was filled with smoke with flames visible on the left front side of the residence.
The Lisbon Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the fire.
The home is considered a total loss due to extensive damage from heat and smoke.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office responded at the request of the Lisbon Fire Department to assist with the investigation.
Investigators determined the fire originated on a mattress in a bedroom.
The cause is believed to be a malfunction of an electric blanket.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
The investigation remains ongoing.
