Man arrested on criminal mischief charge in Scipio

SCIPIO, NY — A 39-year-old man was arrested early Feb. 15 on a criminal mischief charge following a domestic incident.

Joseph R. Thurston, of Scipio, was taken into custody at 2:06 a.m. and charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.

Deputies were dispatched to a domestic incident in the town at approximately 11:42 p.m. on Feb. 14.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim and Thurston.

During the investigation, deputies determined that Thurston damaged multiple items in the home that did not belong to him.

Thurston was placed into custody and brought to the Public Safety Building for processing and arraignment.

He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Scipio Town Court on Feb. 23 at 6:00 p.m.
