BERLIN, CT — A police dog located a man who fled the scene of a serious crash on Elton Road, according to the Berlin Police Department.
Officers responded to a single-car crash with a utility pole snapped in half and wires down across the roadway.
The vehicle was found to be unoccupied with footprints in the snow leading away from the vehicle toward the roadway.
Based on indications that the operator fled on foot, a K9 track was initiated with Berlin Police Department K9 Jax.
K9 Jax located Jayden Cruz hiding by a tree in the woods over a mile away from the motor vehicle crash.
Cruz was arrested and charged with interfering with an officer/resisting, evading responsibility resulting in injury or property damage, failure to take a sobriety test, failure to drive in proper lane and illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
