ANSONIA, CT — A driver faces multiple charges after allegedly striking a marked police cruiser and fleeing the scene on Feb. 14.

Officers were investigating a one-car accident on Elm Street at about 9:50 p.m. when another vehicle struck a stopped marked cruiser that had its emergency lights activated, according to the Ansonia Police Department.

The vehicle then fled the scene, police said.

Officers located the vehicle on East Main Street and took the driver into custody.

During the arrest, officers found two loaded handgun magazines on the driver and a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer handgun in the back seat of the vehicle, police said.
