Woman arrested on drug charges in Salamanca

SALAMANCA, NY — A woman faces multiple drug charges following a vehicle search on East State Street.

Karen Fries, of Allegany, was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd degree and obstruction of governmental administration.

The arrest occurred at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday after an investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

Fries was found in possession of more than two ounces of crystal methamphetamine, more than seven grams of fentanyl and more than an ounce of crack cocaine, according to police.

She was held for arraignment.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Salamanca Police Department, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and the Olean Police Department.

The task force was assisted by the Salamanca Police and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office patrol division and K9 Echo.
