BARRINGTON, NH — A traffic stop on New Year’s Eve led to the discovery of drugs and a firearm after a police K-9 alerted to a vehicle.
Officer Reznicek stopped a white work-style truck at approximately 7:52 p.m. on Dec. 31.
The driver was identified as Kayla Prescott, 37, who had outstanding bench warrants and was classified as a habitual offender.
Officer Reznicek requested assistance from a K-9 unit.
Officer Watts and K-9 Red arrived on scene to provide mutual aid.
During an open-air sniff of the truck, K-9 Red alerted to the passenger side utility doors of the truck bed.
A judge approved a search warrant for the vehicle.
Police searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine, crack cocaine and fentanyl in the passenger-side utility compartment of the truck.
Officers also recovered $2,000 in cash and a firearm from the vehicle.
Prescott was arrested on the outstanding warrants and faces additional charges related to the drugs and firearm found in her vehicle.
