WILTON, NY — The Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call Tuesday at 2:49 p.m. on Damascus Drive.
Investigation into the matter led to the arrest of James M. Sheil, 35, of Corinth, for robbery in the 1st degree (class B felony), grand larceny in the 4th degree (class E felony), two counts of menacing in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree and petit larceny (class A misdemeanors).
Sheil is accused of forcibly stealing property and of using a dangerous instrument during the commission of the crime.
He allegedly threatened two people with a knife then used a pair of metal scissors to cut a wallet out of a pocket of a sweater one of the victims was wearing and while that victim was struggling with him.
The wallet reportedly contained a credit card and cash.
Sheil was arraigned before the Honorable Chad Jerome in the Wilton Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings in that court.
