Driver arrested on DUI charge in Scotrun

SCOTRUN, PA — A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 611 on Feb. 9, 2026.

An officer with the Pocono Township Police Department was on patrol on Route 611 at approximately 3:52 p.m. when he observed a vehicle driving carelessly and using the center-left-turn-only lane to overtake other motorists, according to police.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Michael A. Santiago of Scotrun.

During the interaction, the officer noted several indicators suggesting that the driver may be under the influence, police said.

Following the investigation, Santiago was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to the DUI center.

The driver was also found in possession of a small amount of marijuana, according to police.

Santiago was charged with driving under the influence of general impairment, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
