ALTOONA, PA — A man faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle on February 16.
Officers with the Altoona Police Department spotted a stolen 2010 silver Hyundai Veracruz at approximately 5:41 p.m.
The vehicle had been reported stolen from East 3rd Avenue overnight.
An officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled on Willow Avenue near 4th Street.
The chase continued to Chestnut Avenue, where the vehicle crossed over the median into oncoming traffic.
The driver then crashed into a fence near Union Tank.
Police identified Nathan Rabenstein as the driver.
Officers discovered the registration plate had been changed and found the proper plate inside the vehicle.
During a search incident to arrest, officers found two zip-top baggies containing methamphetamine and two prescription pills on Rabenstein.
Additional paraphernalia was found in the vehicle.
Rabenstein was also found to be driving with a suspended license.
He was transported to the police station and charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, driving while suspended, possession of a controlled substance and numerous traffic offenses.
Rabenstein was arraigned by the on-call magisterial district judge with bail set at $25,000 straight.
