UTICA, NY — Police are investigating a stabbing that left a man in critical but stable condition early Monday morning.
Utica Police and Utica Fire units were dispatched to the 200 block of Genesee Street at approximately 1 a.m. regarding a stabbing investigation.
Upon arrival, they located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the face and neck.
The male victim was immediately transported to Wynn Hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
While interviewing other parties on scene, police determined that the victim answered a knock at his door and was immediately attacked.
Another person attempted to intervene and suffered a laceration to their hand before the suspect fled.
The case has been assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.
