VERONA, PA — Police are searching for a Pittsburgh man who fled a traffic stop and gave officers a false identity.

Joseph Fisher ran from officers on foot during a traffic stop in the GetGo parking lot on Feb. 14.

Fisher provided police with a relative’s identity to avoid arrest and was released.

Investigators later confirmed his true identity and discovered he had been a fugitive since Jan. 14, 2026, after escaping from the Renewal corrections center.

Fisher had been serving time for a robbery conviction.

He now faces charges of flight to avoid apprehension, escape and false identification to law enforcement.

Anyone with information on Fisher’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
