ORANGE, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on Richardson Road at the intersection of Emery Road.
The crash happened on Oct. 5 at 5:17 p.m.
Police say Kyle Hunt, 23, of Washington, was driving westbound on Richardson Road in a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek when he turned south in front of a 2025 Kawasaki KLX140 dirt bike traveling eastbound on Richardson Road.
The dirt bike was operated by Kaylee Bailey, 16, of Corinth.
The vehicles collided head-on and both sustained extensive front-end damage.
Hunt was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
Bailey was not wearing a seat belt and was found unresponsive at the scene.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Road conditions were dry gravel and weather was clear at the time of the crash.
On Feb. 14, Hunt was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Orange County Criminal Division on Feb. 25 at 8:30 a.m.
Hunt faces charges of gross negligent operation resulting in death and obstruction of justice.
