SOUTHEAST, NY — Four juveniles were taken into custody Feb. 13 after a stolen vehicle was located in a parking lot and its occupants fled on foot.
Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Danbury Road and Starr Ridge Road at approximately 7:50 a.m. after receiving a License Plate Reader alert through the Westchester–Putnam Real Time Crime Center regarding a vehicle reported stolen out of Nassau County.
Deputy Ferreira located the vehicle in the parking lot of 1 Starr Ridge Road and attempted to stop it.
The vehicle came to a stop after backing into a snowbank, and four occupants fled on foot.
Following a brief foot pursuit, the driver was apprehended with the assistance of the Village of Brewster Police Department.
Deputy Ferreira located one occupant hiding inside a nearby business.
The remaining two occupants were located inside a nearby gas station and taken into custody by deputies with the assistance of the New York State Police.
All the individuals were identified as juvenile males from Brooklyn.
The juvenile driver was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and resisting arrest.
The juvenile driver was issued a juvenile appearance ticket.
All juveniles were later released to the care of their guardians.
