BOSTON, MA — A Hyde Park man was arrested early Sunday morning after police responded to a burglary in progress in Jamaica Plain.
Officers assigned to District E-13 arrested Jorge Montenegro Jr., 37, of Hyde Park, on burglary charges.
At about 12:52 a.m., police responded to 3531 Washington Street for a burglary in progress.
Boston Police Operations provided officers with information that the suspect had entered through the front door and was seen on security cameras leaving out the back door.
A description of the suspect was broadcast to all responding units.
Upon arrival, officers began to clear the building and located a discarded surgical mask and black latex gloves near a trash barrel outside.
While police were canvassing the area, they observed a male matching the suspect’s description in front of 3611 Washington Street.
Montenegro Jr. was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
He faces charges of unarmed burglary and larceny from a building.
