WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man accused of stealing money left behind at a self-checkout register.
The incident occurred at 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 13 at Walmart, according to the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department.
Police said a victim forgot her property at the self-checkout area, and a man in a beige sweater took the money.
The theft involves an amount that constitutes a second-degree misdemeanor under Pennsylvania law.
Pennsylvania law requires individuals who come into contact with mislaid property to take reasonable measures to restore it to the rightful owner, police said.
