Woman arrested on DWI charge in Italy

ITALY, NY — A Naples woman was arrested on drunken driving charges following a motor vehicle accident Feb. 12.

Sylvia Vanhousen, 65, of Naples, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1% or more alcohol in blood, driving while intoxicated and moved from lane unsafely.

Yates County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Brink Hill Road at approximately 8:47 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Vanhousen, who displayed signs of intoxication.

Vanhousen was placed through standardized field sobriety tests and taken into custody.

She was transported to the Yates County Jail where she submitted to a chemical test.

Vanhousen was released on tickets and will answer to the charges at a later date in Italy Town Court.

Deputies A. Garren and N. Fultz responded to the scene, along with the New York State Police.
