ALBANY, NY — A 17-year-old of Albany has been charged in connection with a series of robberies.
On Wednesday, members from the Albany Police Department’s Detective Division executed a search warrant at a residence on the 300 block of Second Street near Judson Street in connection with an ongoing series of robberies.
During the search warrant, a BB gun was recovered from inside the residence.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody in the area of Second Street and Judson Street.
On Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, around 11:55 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Livingston Avenue for reports of a robbery.
Upon arrival, the victim told officers he had arranged to meet an individual to sell his gaming console.
The victim was approached by two individuals, one of whom displayed a handgun and forcibly stole the gaming console before both suspects fled the scene on foot.
On Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, around 11:55 p.m., two victims walked into Albany Police South Station to report a robbery that had occurred earlier that afternoon in the area of Ontario Street and Second Street.
The victims told officers they were approached by several individuals, one armed with a knife and another with a handgun, who demanded the victims’ sneakers and cell phones.
The victims complied, and the suspects fled the scene on foot.
On Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, around 7:40 p.m., officers responded to a residence on the 400 block of First Street for reports of a robbery.
Upon arrival, the victim told officers that while walking home from school in the area of North Lake Avenue and Elk Street, he was approached by an individual armed with a handgun who demanded his sneakers, coat and cell phone.
The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot.
There were no injuries reported in the three incidents.
Through investigation, detectives were able to identify the 17-year-old as a suspect in all three robberies.
The 17-year-old, whose name will not be released due to his age, has been charged with three counts of robbery in the first degree, three counts of robbery in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
He was arraigned in Albany County Family Court and remanded to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.
