Six arrested in drug, firearms raids in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA — Massachusetts State Police conducted two major operations targeting narcotics and firearms trafficking rings on Feb. 10 and 11.

The first operation resulted from a four-month investigation into a drug trafficking ring with connections to Massachusetts and Puerto Rico.

Law enforcement executed six simultaneous search warrants in Springfield.

The second operation targeted a mid-level fentanyl trafficker operating in the greater Springfield area.

Six individuals were arrested in both operations.

Police seized 15 handguns, six rifles, 11 large capacity magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Authorities also recovered approximately $63,000 in U.S. currency, approximately 8.5 kilograms of cocaine and approximately 30,000 bags of fentanyl.

Springfield Police K9 Flexx recovered two firearms during the investigation.

The operations involved the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team CINRET West Team, MSP Gang Unit, Crime Scene Services Section, Attorney General’s Office, State Police Detective Unit Hampden, State Police STOP Team, Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Troop B Community Action Team, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
