SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — A woman was arrested on drunken driving charges after a crash involving a school bus Tuesday afternoon.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property damage motor vehicle crash at 3:26 p.m. on Lake Avenue.

Julie E. Learned, 49, of Saratoga Springs, was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, moving from lane unsafely, refusing to take a preliminary breath test at the direction of a police officer and failing to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of a change of address.

Learned is accused of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition at a time when a child who was less than 15 years of age was a passenger in the vehicle.

She allegedly refused the chemical test.

The child was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Learned had reportedly been traveling east on Lake Avenue and attempted to turn onto the access road for the Saratoga Independent School when she struck a South Glens Falls Central School District bus that had been stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Lake Avenue and the same access road.

There were two students on the bus at the time.

No injuries were reported.

Learned was released on appearance tickets at the direction of the Honorable Jeffrey D. Wait of the Saratoga Springs City Court pending proceedings in that court.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Saratoga Springs Police Department.
