Man arrested on robbery charge in Boston

BOSTON, MA — A Wenham man was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery after allegedly stealing an employee’s phone from a CVS Pharmacy in the South End.

Jason Johnson, 43, of Wenham, was arrested Monday night by officers assigned to District D-4.

Officers responded to CVS Pharmacy at 587 Boylston Street at about 10:45 p.m. for a report of a male suspect who stole an employee’s phone and fled the scene wearing a ski mask over his face.

As an officer arrived on scene, a store employee pointed at the suspect running down Boylston Street.

The officer detained the suspect and recovered the stolen phone.

During a search incident to arrest, four plastic bags of cocaine were recovered from the suspect’s pocket.

The stolen phone was returned to the victim.

Johnson is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of unarmed robbery and possession of a Class B drug.
