ALTOONA, PA — Two Philadelphia residents were arrested and charged with drug offenses following a search at a local hotel on Friday.
Officers from the Altoona Police Department received information that controlled substances were being sold from the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel, located on the 900 block of Chestnut Avenue.
An investigation was conducted and officers performed a “knock and talk” at a room on the second floor.
Upon knocking on the door, officers made contact with Ajee Chriswell, 31, of Philadelphia, who answered the door.
A second individual, William Matthews, 21, of Philadelphia, was found inside the room.
Both individuals were detained and officers secured the hotel room and a vehicle associated with the detainees.
Officers applied for a search warrant, which was approved and executed on the hotel room.
During the search, officers located a fake Morton Salt container with 26 packets of suspected heroin with a street value of approximately $500, one gram of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $100, $1,145 in U.S. currency, and a large amount of packaging materials.
Chriswell and Matthews were transported to the Altoona Police Department where criminal complaints were compiled by the Altoona Police Narcotics Unit.
Both were charged with multiple Title 35 violations to include possession with intent to deliver.
Chriswell and Matthews were transported to the Blair County Prison Central Booking where they were arraigned on charges.
Bail was set at $300,000 straight for both individuals.
The Altoona Police Department was assisted by the Tyrone Police Department, Blair County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania Attorney General Office.
