GENEVA, NY — A 33-year-old man was arrested Monday after police say he struck a child with a belt.
Members of the City of Geneva Police Department’s Uniformed Division responded to the Boys and Girls Club at approximately 5 p.m. Monday to assist Ontario County Child Protection Services with a report of an assault.
Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that on the evening of Feb. 8, Anthony L. Morgan Jr., of Geneva, struck a child under the age of 17 multiple times with a leather belt.
The incident occurred inside Morgan’s residence.
The child sustained physical injuries as a result of the assault.
Morgan was taken into custody and charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
He was transported to the Geneva Police Department for processing and subsequently taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
