SHREWSBURY, MA — A high school was placed on lockdown Feb. 10 after police received a report of a possible threat that turned out to be directed at a school in Canada.

The Shrewsbury Police Department received a report at approximately 9:31 a.m. that an individual had observed a possible threat to St. John’s High School on a social media post.

As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown and multiple officers were dispatched to the campus.

Officers immediately conducted a security sweep of the buildings and areas on the campus.

After investigating the social media post, police discovered the threat was directed toward a St. John’s High School located in Winnipeg, Canada.

A Shrewsbury detective contacted Winnipeg police and confirmed they had received the threat Feb. 9 to their school.

After officers and school staff were satisfied there was no threat, the school resumed normal operations.

Police said there are no known threats or safety concerns at St. John’s High School or any other schools in the Shrewsbury community.
