Counterfeit merchandise seized in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, MA — Detectives seized thousands of counterfeit items from a flea market vendor following an investigation into the sale of fake licensed merchandise.

Lawrence Police Department detectives were notified on Sept. 4, 2023, by Powers & Associates regarding an ongoing investigation into trademark infringements involving a vendor at 85 Manchester Street.

Powers & Associates is recognized as an expert in identifying copyright violations, counterfeit merchandise and trademark infringement.

Detectives conducted surveillance and purchased counterfeit items bearing well-known brand names, confirming the vendor’s involvement in selling fake goods.

A total of 2,804 counterfeit items were seized with an estimated retail value of $457,910.

The seized items included 1,807 Nike products valued at $307,190, 821 Adidas products valued at $131,360 and 176 UGG products valued at $19,360.

Three individuals were charged with crimes against property bearing counterfeit marks.
