NORTH HAVERHILL, NH — A 21-year-old nursing student has been missing since her car crashed on Route 112 on Feb. 9, 2004.
Maura Murray’s black Saturn 4-door sedan was involved in a single-car accident along Route 112, also known as Wild Ammonoosuc Road, according to New Hampshire State Police.
When the North Haverhill Police Department arrived at the scene, Murray was gone.
A private citizen spoke with a woman believed to be Murray at the accident site shortly before police arrived.
Murray has not been seen or heard from since.
Murray, of Amherst, Massachusetts, was a nursing student at the University of Massachusetts–Amherst and had previously attended the United States Military Academy at West Point.
She was an avid runner who enjoyed hiking in the White Mountains.
Earlier on Feb. 9, she was captured on ATM surveillance footage wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
Murray did not tell anyone of her intended trip to New Hampshire, located about two and a half hours from campus.
Despite extensive searches by law enforcement agencies, community volunteers and private organizations over the years, Murray’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Her disappearance is being treated as suspicious.
