EAST HAMPTON, CT — Police seized numerous illegal THC products from a local tobacco shop following a complaint that the business sold to a minor.
The East Hampton Police Department received a complaint Jan. 8 from a concerned citizen reporting the underage sale of THC products to a juvenile by Hampton Tobacco & Vape at 42 E. High St.
Police conducted a compliance check of the business Jan. 27 in conjunction with personnel from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Drug Control Division and the Connecticut Mental Health and Addiction Services Prevention and Health Promotion Division.
Officers seized vapes, edibles, cannabis flower and extracts that exceeded the legal threshold of THC for destruction.
Recreational marijuana has been legal in Connecticut since July 1, 2021.
Cannabis products containing more than 5 milligrams of THC may only be sold by licensed cannabis establishments and can only be sold to adults over the age of 21.
