SENECA, NY — New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead on State Route 14A near Hastings Road on Feb. 7, 2026.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:11 p.m. when a 2025 Kia K4 traveling southbound crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2020 Dodge Ram, according to state police.
Edwin C. Montanez, 47, of Syracuse, a passenger in the Kia, was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The driver of the Kia, James C. Hughes, 45, of Syracuse, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
A rear passenger in the Kia, James L. Bush, 39, of Syracuse, was taken to Geneva Hospital and later transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, Nathaniel R. Blakely, 30, of Williamson, was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was treated and released at the scene.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and processed the scene.
State Route 14A was closed and traffic was rerouted during the investigation.
