PAWTUCKET, RI — A Pawtucket man was arrested on a bench warrant during a traffic stop on Route 95 North.
Candido Matias, 66, of Pawtucket, was taken into custody at 9:45 a.m. on a Third Division District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of driving with a suspended license.
The warrant originated from the Smithfield Police Department.
Matias was transported to the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks, where he was processed, and later transported to Third Division District Court.
In a separate incident at 10:15 a.m., troopers arrested Alleyah Perry, 29, of Woonsocket, for simple assault/battery and disorderly conduct.
The arrest resulted from a disturbance and subsequent investigation at 6th Division District Court.
Perry was taken into custody by the Rhode Island Sheriff’s Department and was later transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
At 8:16 p.m., troopers arrested Joseph Catoni, 30, of Providence, on an affidavit arrest warrant for multiple drug-related charges and eluding law enforcement.
The charges include manufacture/sell/possess with intent to sell Schedule I/II controlled substance (cocaine) – 1 ounce to 1 kilogram – second offense; manufacture/deliver/possess with intent to manufacture/deliver Schedule I/II controlled substance (crack-cocaine) – second offense; manufacture/deliver/possess with intent to manufacture/deliver Schedule I/II controlled substance (fentanyl) – second offense; and eluding law enforcement vehicle in a high-speed pursuit – first offense.
The arrest resulted from a barracks investigation by troopers, with Catoni subsequently being located by Providence Police Department.
Catoni was transported to the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks, where he was processed, and later turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake where he was held as a probation violator.
