Vehicle theft reported in Elmore

ELMORE, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a vehicle theft that occurred early Saturday morning.

Troopers from the Williston Barracks were dispatched at approximately 1:48 a.m. Feb. 6, 2026, to 950 Tallman Rd. for a report of a stolen vehicle.

Juan Rodriguez Sr., 57, of Elmore, reported that his friend had taken his white 2011 Jeep Wrangler while he was asleep.

At approximately 4:48 a.m., Montpelier Police Department officers encountered Mark Savary, 57, of Lyndon, in connection with an unrelated call.

The stolen vehicle was located abandoned just over a mile away from where Savary was found.

Investigation revealed that Savary had left the roadway, been unable to continue in the vehicle, and had abandoned it.

Savary was arrested and transported to the Montpelier Police Department for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear in Lamoille County Superior Court on April 8, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. to answer to the charge of operation without owner’s consent.
