Two arrested on drug charges in Nunda

NUNDA, NY — Two Wyoming County residents face felony drug charges following a traffic stop in the Town of Nunda.

Sheriff’s Deputy Matt VanCuran stopped a vehicle on State Route 436 at approximately 6:12 p.m. on Feb. 5 after observing violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The deputy made contact with the operator, identified as Shanda Marshall, 43, of Portageville, and a passenger identified as Wayne Paul, 36, of Portageville.

The deputy suspected drug activity in the vehicle and conducted an investigation.

Marshall and Paul were both found to be in possession of cocaine.

Both were arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree.

Marshall was additionally charged with violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Marshall and Paul were transported to the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Both were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Groveland Justice Bean.

The judge released Paul and Marshall on their own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Marshall and Paul at the arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
