SENNETT, NY — A 28-year-old man faces criminal contempt and aggravated family offense charges after allegedly contacting a protected party while incarcerated.
Michael E. Stanton Jr., of Auburn, was arrested Jan. 30 by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies opened an investigation in December 2025 into allegations that Stanton Jr. contacted the protected party of a full stay-away order of protection while he was incarcerated at Cayuga County Jail.
Stanton Jr. was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and aggravated family offense, a felony.
He was arraigned at CAP Court and is being held at Cayuga County Jail.
