Man arrested on domestic charges in Auburn

AUBURN, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly threatening his mother and damaging property during a domestic dispute on Cottage Street.

Officers responded to a residence on Cottage Street at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 30 for a report of a woman being held against her will by her son.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim and the suspect.

Police determined that Travis D. C. Hoskins, 29, of Auburn, began arguing with his mother.

The victim locked herself in a bedroom after Hoskins became angry.

Hoskins punched the bedroom door while telling the victim he was going to kill himself, according to police.

He eventually punched a hole in the door and injured himself.

Hoskins then threatened to kill the victim before police arrived, according to the report.

Hoskins was arrested without incident and transported to the Auburn Police Department for processing.

Based on a previous domestic-related assault conviction in 2022, Hoskins was charged with an additional felony offense.

Hoskins was transported to the Cayuga County Jail where he was arraigned.

He was issued an order of protection and released.

Hoskins was charged with aggravated family offense, a class E felony; criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; and harassment in the second degree, a violation.
