ROXBURY, MA — Boston police arrested a 19-year-old man after recovering a loaded firearm following a person with a gun call Wednesday night.

Jamauri Chambers of Dorchester was taken into custody at about 9:14 p.m. on Feb. 4 in the area of 57 Charlame Street.

Officers from District B-2 and the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force responded to the radio call and observed an individual matching the caller’s description walking from North Charlame Court onto Charlame Street.

Police stopped Chambers and conducted a pat frisk that did not immediately reveal a weapon.

Officers noted Chambers was sweating heavily despite extremely cold weather conditions.

Based on information from the 911 caller, officers searched the area where Chambers was first observed.

Police found a side gate at 26 North Charlame Court partially open with a single set of footprints leading toward the rear fence.

Officers observed a small rectangular impression in the snow near the fence line with no footprints or disturbances on the opposite side of the fence.

Using a mop handle to move the snow, officers discovered a black object beneath the surface.

Police accessed the opposite side of the fence and recovered a black revolver-style firearm with a wood grip secured inside a black nylon holster.

The weapon was identified as a Charco Inc. Bulldog Pug .44 caliber revolver.

Chambers is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card and trespassing.
