Phone scam reported in Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Police are warning residents about an active phone scam in which callers falsely claim to be police officers and demand payment.

The Danbury Police Department said it has received multiple reports of the scam.

The callers are fraudulently identifying themselves as police officers and requesting payment from residents, according to police.

Police said the department will never request payment, gift cards or personal financial information over the phone.

Residents who receive a suspicious call are asked to contact the Danbury Police Department directly at 203-797-4611.
