Two New Castle Men Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Seizure

NEW CASTLE, DE — Two New Castle men were arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop led to the seizure of suspected heroin/fentanyl, crack cocaine and marijuana.

Detectives assigned to the Active Crime Trends Team were conducting proactive patrols in the Wilton Boulevard corridor at approximately 2:55 p.m. on February 3, 2026, when they initiated a traffic stop for a violation involving a white Nissan Altima on Ridley Court.

During the stop, detectives identified the occupants as the driver, Marcus Crawford, 37, and the passenger, Keenan Black, 25, both of New Castle. Detectives determined that Crawford was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

Detectives established probable cause and conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, they recovered 98 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl, approximately 14 grams of crack cocaine and approximately 139 grams of marijuana.

Detectives also recovered suspected drug paraphernalia and proceeds believed to be associated with illegal narcotics activity.

Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters.

Marcus Crawford was charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, Tier 2; two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, Tier 2; one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia; one misdemeanor count of driving while suspended or revoked; and one traffic violation for failure to signal continuously.

Crawford was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $19,102 secured bail.

Keenan Black was charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana other than personal use.

Black was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting $5,100 secured bail.
