Man arrested in 2023 armed robbery in Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — A man wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store more than two years ago has been arrested.

Chico Arnaldo Cardona, 23, of Meriden, was taken into custody on Jan. 30, 2026.

Police responded to Sam’s Food Stores at 343 West Main Street on Aug. 15, 2023, at approximately 1:09 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery involving a firearm.

An investigation identified Cardona as a suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued.

Police made multiple attempts to locate and apprehend Cardona but were unsuccessful until last week.

Cardona was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.

He was held at Meriden Police Department headquarters on a $200,000 court-set bond.
