SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — The Saratoga Springs Police Department made seven Driving While Intoxicated arrests between early Saturday morning and Sunday morning as part of proactive patrol efforts throughout the city.
The arrests were the result of vigilant patrol activity, responses to traffic complaints, and investigations of traffic accidents conducted by members of the Patrol Division.
One of the incidents occurred while an officer was conducting a DWI investigation during a vehicle stop.
During that investigation, a marked patrol vehicle with emergency lights activated was struck by another driver, who then attempted to flee the scene.
The driver was apprehended following a brief pursuit and subsequently arrested.
The patrol vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the crash and no injuries were reported.
However, the vehicle sustained damage and has been taken out of service.
At this time, there is no estimated date for its return to service.
